Hiatus

I haven't been blogging because I've been trying to make sense of it all. I wonder maybe part of me stopped caring. It's quite hard living this way. I just wish I knew how to get on top of it all.

People say, do something you love and you won't have to work for another day in your life. Well, let's just say life's been all about work lately. I wish I had it all figured out.

Bunny cupcakes

I helped Mel with her cupcakes for her friend's birthday on the weekend. Cute no?

Floriade

Bi and Matt have posted their version of the trip here and here.

Had we chosen the prior weekend to go to Canberra, the weather would have been perfect. Rather, we woke up to a dust storm in Sydney and had a crazy 10 degrees, strong winds and showers down in Canberra. Being the smart people we were, we didn't even think about taking our umbrellas with us when we got out of Bi's car in Canberra. Alas! We were caught in intervals of drizzling rain, little bit of sunshine and ended with a heavy downpour. Needless to say, there were lots of running for cover. I made the wrong decision of wearing my black ballet flats which was soaked in its entirety and discoloured onto my heels. So I had to bid farewell to my beloved shoes which served me well during my years of retail work. By the end of the trip, our hands and feet were frozen beyond imagination and each of us soaked up a fair share of rain. Because we were such photography enthusiasts (well, at least for Bi, Matt and myself who brought our DSLR's), we braved the prickling cold and icy winds just to take pictures of God's infinite creation and our lovely friends.

Highlights of the trip were:

  1. Having awesome company. Mel, Bi , Matt and Kev would be amongst the better ranks of my favourite people in the world list.
  2. Seeing so many flowers in so many colours! It's a treat to the eye and senses. There were a lot of tulips and I sighted some ranunculas but I didn't know the names of the other flowers.
  3. Taking lots of photos despite the rain. The rain dampen our spirits a little bit but I think we all managed to get some good shots. After all, overcast is always better than harsh sunlight for photography.
  4. Having a surprise birthday for Matt and forcing the whole crew to eat up our very sugary cupcakes in the morning and on the way back. Bianca even improvised and made a birthday banner for Matt! Everyone had a sugar hit, at least it kept the driver awake on the way back!
  5. Playing games in the car which kept us all awake on the way to Canberra but failed to have the same effect on the way back. Matt and Kev were left to gun it out on our drive home while the girls had a nap in the backseat. We had a name a category game (e.g. movies starring Brad Pitt, Disney cartoons and animation) where Bianca always say "There's heaps!". We also had alphabetical order naming game where we named 'realistic' things that would be in a bedroom and 'realistic' things we would have if we were a celebrity. The drive was actually quite picturesque, with thick clouds, mountains and vast lands.

Overall, the rain and cold really sucked. The flowers and the friends rocked!

Mickey Mouse

Eitan calls it MiMou.

I realised today I really like watching cartoons. Right up till Form 5, I watched the Disney Channel quite often. I probably would still watch it if we have cabel in our apartment. Today, I secretly wished we didn't have to go shopping and just stayed in the hotel room watching Mickey Mouse with Eitan.

High pitch voices. Straight forward plot. Goofy moves. Silly jokes. Good laughs.

melancholic

Friendship. One of those things that we can have quasi control. Yet, sometimes it just takes a little bit of fate. Other times, lots of effort.

I've been thinking lately. The people that walked in and out of my life. Some I miss dearly. Others are better left at bay and remain that way.

Can't help but wonder, was it my fault that the friendship died? Did I care enough to keep it going? Or no matter what I do, the result would've been the same?

That's why I say the control is "quasi". We sort of have control. We sort of don't.

My circle just keeps getting smaller and smaller.

Matt's surprise birthday cupcakes

Mel and I spent 2.5 hours icing cupcakes the night before our canberra trip with Bi, Kev and Matt. Boy oh boy, whoever ate our cupcakes was bound to have a sugar hit. We actually finished using a whole bag of icing sugar for one batch of cupcakes and we were having quite a lot of fun colouring them. 4 cupcakes spelt MATT, 2 cupcakes had fishies on them (matt actually thought they were random objects with heart shapes on the side), and 12 mini cupcakes with a gradual colour change from pink to purple to greenish blue.

Are we talented or what?

Bi + Eu = chaos!

No, we're not very lady-like. We try though!
